I haven’t heard many people open up as you did tonight on Hannity and Colmes. My experience is similar to yours, with the difference being that I could not focus on my business after having my boy put to sleep and I eventually lost my business and I have had to struggle to get back on my feet. When I realized that my boy was not feeling well, I physically collapsed and could not funtcion. For two weeks, I would hide from people in my life so I would not be caught crying. Eventually I had to put an end to my boys suffering, and I haven’t stopped crying since. He left me on june 14, 2001. I would like to read your book but I don’t think I could handle it.
My Boys Name was “Tuck”

Our Artie (1985-2003) was about 1 yr when he found us on Easter Sunday. We brought him into our home and were blessed by him for another 17 yrs. He had a heart condition in his last 2 yrs and we lived through his collapses moving downstairs into our guest room so he would not have to climb the stairs. We watched to see that he still liked to take us to the refrigerator where he knew we kept his turkey and continued to enjoy life as his circle became smaller and smaller. We were lucky as he expired at home. But we hated to let him go and still find so much joy at all the sweet things he did throughout his life. He was a great traveler, could just about drive a car, loved to see the lights of a city at night, was the most loving and devoted person I have ever known. He could run really fast and taught us to let him out when he rang the bell hanging on the back door. Flaws: none.
Thank you for your story of Sprite and for the forum to tell ours. When i think of the money people spend on entertainment and recreation and compare to the fun and lifelong joy these wonderful dogs give us freely I am humbled by their love.

I’ve loved and admired dogs for a long time. I was about 6 years old when I started asking my parents for a dog on a daily basis. My different questions and reasons never worked until right before the Christmas of 2006. I was 14 when I finally convinced my father to get me a dog.
My companion and new brother was born on February 4th and introduced to the family on 1 April 2007. He joined my 12 year old sister, my father, and I. We loved our little bundle of muscle. The little tank is his nickname when it comes to family and friends. Auggie Doggie is now a 9 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Auggie is an unconditionally loving dog when it comes to humans and also other dogs. When we take him out to the dog park he has to spend half of his time jumping up on benches to greet people with kisses, and half his time sniffing other dogs, running with other dogs, and just enjoying a day with his neighborhood friends.
On November 5, 2007 there was a football game for my high school against one of our rivals which I had planed to go watch. In order to be able to go out though for a few hours I had to make sure Auggie was well fed, exercised, and did his business before leaving. Therefore, I decided to bring him to the neighborhood dog park. The dog park is divided into two sections. One for dogs under 30 pounds and one for dogs over 30 pounds. At 40 pounds, Auggie is one of the smaller dogs, but runs well with the big dogs.

In March, I had to put down one of my Shar-pei dogs. He would have been 16 this year. Two weeks ago I had to put my second best friend to sleep. It was the hardest thing I have had to do in my whole life and I will never forget it. I bred my female Shar-pei and raised one of her male pups,Baggins. We had him just 2 weeks short of his 16th. birthday. He was very sick with a heart condition. We fought for months to give him a comfortable life by going to several vets until we found a specialist. He was so helpful at making my pet comfortable. I spent tons of money that I didn’t have but it was the best money spent to extend my time with him. I can understand your loss of your pet as I am sure you were as close to yours as I was to mine. It is like losing a member of your family and more. I plan to buy your book to find closure.
Thank you, Diana from Ohio

After hearing you today on Sean Hannity’s radio show (I just love your voice!) I had to write. We have had standard poodles since 1993; the first two were brothers from w different litters but the same parents. Snavely lived to be 12 and had to be put down in 2005 and Moxley lived to be 14 and we lost him in 2007. Each time my husband and I were absolute wrecks and litterly cried for two days and each time we said we didn’t think we could stand to go through the heartbreak again but tonight Jasper our two year old male standard poodle, Blossom, our 8 year old female standard, and our newest little cotton ball, Gunther, born September 7, are laying at my feet. No one but a fellow pet lover could understand how totally they are a part of my life. Sean Hannity mentioned that even after experiencing the terrible lose of both his parents, he so dreads the lose of Snowball. I think the reason why this is so very hard is that they are always so innocent and want only to be near us. I thank you for putting your story on paper and sometime in the future I’d like to read it even though I know it will just make me cry!

When our 17 year old daughter was murdered 22 years ago, to keep us going my husband and I started rescuing abused and abandoned dogs and cats. These years since we lost Debbie have been more bearable because of our animals. Then almost 10 months ago, I lost my husband after being on life support for a month. Now I face losing our home, and the worse part, losing our animals who depend on me so completely. My heart is broken losing my daughter and my husband, and now the agony of parting with these wonderful dogs and cats. I am absolutely devastated. These animals are all I have left, and they need me, and I definitely need them. They are my life.
