Honey

Its a sad day in our household. We had to put our beloved Honey down due to cancer. She had a tough beginning. My wife got her from a shelter. She was with minutes of being put down when she claimed her. she had numerous welts form some jeck abusing her. We guess she was six or seven months old when we got her. That was fourteen years ago. I work 2nd shift so I don’t get home until midnight. For fourteen years she was the one who always greeted me. She don’t jumb on me like allot of dogs but made it known she was glad to see me. When we got a 2nd dog. that we had found wondering the streets. She welcome her without a problem and become the younger dog’s role model. I can’t begin to say how much I’m going to miss her greeting when I go back to work. She was a great dog. I will rememger fondly for the rest of my life

Brought to Tears

I just finished reading Rescuing Sprite and I was brought to tears. It is so great knowing that there are other people who can share a deep conection with dogs. I volunteer at a rescue and I see the results of neglect and abuse so much so that you begin to like dogs more. We also see the happy endings with adoptions to great families like mark’s. We are a non kill shelter so our dogs will always have a home. I work with tremendous people who share Mark’s passion. It is the first time in my life that I wish there were more hours to volunteer. It is so rewarding. Please remember to adopt from shelters and rescues. Get informed about puppy mills and push for humane laws regarding breeding.

Bayla, Sage, Norman, Logan

Bayla was a gift from my wife to me almost 8 years ago. A Great Pyrenees, she exhibits a wonderful fondness for our cat Sage and Golder Retriever, Norman. Norman was several years her senior and my wife responded to my constant “nagging” for another dog to keep Norman company.
We had no idea that after two years Norman, then 8 would develop a sever blood disorder that caused a serious drop in his red blood count to barely 5. Although he had stumbled a few times which caused him to fall over, we had no idea that this disorder would eventually take him from us.
But during those terrible days where he was so weak, Bayla keep a constant vigil and would let us know when Norman needed attention. She knew when his time was short and wouldn’t leave his side.
After his passing, we all mourned, but Bayla grew ever closer to our cat Sage.
Today, we have another Golden Retriever named Logan and the two are inseparable except when they chase Sage around the house. We love how they seem to protect and take care of each other.
I believe it was Norman’s passing that made Bayla and Sage as loving as they are which has certainly translated to Logan.

Dottie, Cody

Hi Mark:
I finished your wonderful book today, and what a book it is!  We lost our beloved Leonberger, Dottie, almost two years ago from bone cancer.  She was only ill about 3 weeks, but being a giant breed, there was nothing anyone could do.  Our 8 year old golden retriever, Cody, still misses her.

Spritey was a wonderful dog and I read your book and shared your heartfelt grief which I still feel for Dottie everyday!  I work for a pet food company on the weekends and, as I walked around the local pet store yesterday, I had tears running down my cheeks after sharing your loss.  God bless you and your family for sharing this very personal story.

I also have written a manuscript about our beloved Dottie.  This is an unusual request, but how do I go about getting my story published?  I have sent my story out to publishers and haven\’t received a positive response for one reason or another.  If you could PLEASE steer me in the right direction, I\’d be forever grateful!

How are Pepsi and Griffin doing?

Regards to you and yours (pat your dogs for me tonite, ok?)

Sincerely,
Mary Ann from MI
