The interview on Hannity & Colmes last night brought me to tears. It was so refreshing to hear someone else that has experienced the same grief that I’ve felt a number of times. I lost my cat, MollyMarie in 2004, then in 2006 I lost two cats Gwenna and Bella. Then in April of this year, I lost my beloved 16 year old dog, Sasha. I don’t know how to wake up or come home from work without my babies there. I’m lost without them. They were my closest family and friends. I pray for them everyday that they are in heaven playing and being loved.
Thanks for sharing your story.

I am so sorry for your loss and I understand how much you loved Sprite. But, most of all I understand how much Sprite loved you. It is hard to explain how awful it is to lose that love. My dear Blondie–my true and faithful companion of 16 years–left me on June 27th.She was so ill and I kept her probably too long –but I just couldn’t let her go. The vets were wonderful and eased her away without any pain.
I am left with wonderful memories and stories of her great adventures with Bud. They were both shelter dogs. I was the lucky one when I found them. Bud was a beautiful German Shepard and so smart and protective and Blondie was the happy go lucky part golden retriever. I miss them so and maybe some day I will seek a new friend. __from a shelter –of course.
Best Regards, Mary from TX

Last year i got my adorable Lady Bianca, a miniature dachshund. I had recently moved out of my ex-girlfriend’s home and bought my own condo. I had never raised a puppy on my own and it was a big challenge and i was scared to let her away from me for a second. I brought her to work with me everyday and she was a respite during break times as we’d play fetch in the office. Recently i had to sell my condo due to financial reasons and moved into a small studio, but they didn’t accept dogs. I had to give Bianca to my girlfriend who lives over 1 hour away. She loves animals and has 5 pugs herself. She has a good home there, but i miss her so much and can only see her on weekends now. We had such a great bond and i am afraid i will lose that with her now. My girlfriend and I are engaged to be married in July and i will be moving in with her then and we will all be living as one under the same roof. I have had animals my whole life, but it’s so much different when you are the one who raised it from day one.
Thanks for all you do–thanks Peter from CA

7 years ago, when Mitsy was 10 years old, I rescued her from a puppy mill. She was going to be put to sleep because she could no longer have puppies. This sweet dog was in terrible shape. She was missing most of her hair…she had abscessed teeth…parasites. After a lot of love (and vet care) Mitsy is doing great at 17 years old!!!! She is such a joy that I could not even explain. She runs around like a puppy and loves life.

Max was our Little Man for 14 wonderful, rewarding years. He grew up with our two girls and was a valuable member of our family. On October 17 after suffering 4 days of being under the weather, he collapsed. I rushed him to the vet where they treated him for dehydration and did ultrasound on him. A mass was found on his liver which was enlarged, as was a lymph node, his abdomen was filled with fluid. Somewhat in denial I thought we could just remove the mass and go on our happy way. It wasn’t to be. He declined quickly that night in bed with me as I gave him water with an eye dropper throughout the night. Upon returning to the vet in the AM it was apparent we were faced with the ultimate decision. We said our good-byes, I held him and whispered in his ear “I love you” until he took his last breath. It was peaceful, but the most painful thing I have had to go through. The Vet made 3 plaster paw prints for our daughters and us to have before he was cremated. We have his ashes in a velvet bag with his framed photo where we can see him every day. There will never be anything that can compare to the love we had with Max, he was our Little Man. I can now say I completely understand what you went through with Sprite.

We have been saving Yorkies for twenty years. The most memorable was Zeus. Oweners had tried to make him an outside dog and only feeding him once a day and never letting him inside. When he came home with is hecould not do stairs, play ball, he was a zero. Within six months with us and our female Molly he developed a personality that was fantastic. Say road trip and he headed for the door, say trains and he took off for the model train room and chased trains around the whole layout. Molly had to go at 14 and Zeus at 12. They are both buried in our yard(in the country) and every time I drive by on the mower I start bawling like a baby , We now have Delila, a cairn, and Daisy a Wheaten. Both rscues and both mistreated. They also are the sweetest little people in the world. I would love to read your book but I know I would be inable to. I had three tours in Vietnam and wxperienced a bunch of death in all forms. Nothing compares to the heartache of saying goodby to your baby.
