Ten Peeves that Dogs Have About Humans

1 Blaming your farts on me….. not funny… not funny at all !!!

2 Yelling at me for barking. I’M A FRIGGIN’ DOG

3 Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly whose walk is this anyway?

4 Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose. Stop it!

5 Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons. Now you know why we chew your stuff up when you’re not home.

6 The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog! Whoooo Hoooooooo what a proud moment for the top of the food chain.

7 Taking me to the vet for ‘the big snip’, then acting surprised when I freak out every time we go back!

8 Getting upset when I sniff the crotches of your guests. Sorry, but I haven’t quite mastered that handshake thing yet.

9 Dog sweaters. Hello ??? Haven’t you noticed the fur?

10 How you act disgusted when I lick myself. Look, we both know the truth. You’re just jealous.

Now lay off me on some of these things. We both know who’s boss here! You don’t see me picking up your poop do you?

EVERY DOG HAS HIS DAY. A DOG ALWAYS OFFERS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. CATS HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT!

Zoe

Mark,
Zoe, our 3 yrs old Boston Terrier has passed. She was loved & adored by my 2 girls, 9 & 13, my wife & me. We gave her the best 3 yrs a pet could have. Tragically, last night we returned from an outing & when I went to the back yard(fenced in & always safe, she was no where to be found. I looked for her all over, the girls were calling her. She did not run to us in the way we came to know. I believed I saw her peeking out from unde a bush & walked over, thinking she was spooked into hiding. What I saw horrified & traumitized me as nothing has evr done in all my years. All that was left of our beloved Zoe was her face. She was loving;y staring at me when I walked over in the way she always did. Something attacked her so violentaly all that we have left is that shred & her hind leg. We are all so traumitized that we were up crying from the horror & loss last night. My wife went to school with the girls this am. We loved our little girl so much that only another dog parent coulkd understand. The end of ouir Zoe’s life was a tragedy & horror, but, as I told the girls, every night when you say your parayers, say thankx that we had the privelege of havinh her even this short amount of time.

Chato

I loved your book!!! My heart and prayers are with you and your wonderful family. Four yrs. ago a 9 yr. old leukemia pt. came to our clinis her treatment had left her paralyzed from the neck down. MY husband is a spine surgeon adults and peds. She had been turned away from many clinics, we corrected her scoliosis curve secondary to chemo and she was walking in 3mos. Her family and her came to our home and gave us a precious Blue Heeler puppy they raise. Chato was our world, but 4 days after his 2nd birthday he was shot 10 ft. from our porch right on our ranch!!!! He died instantly, thankffully and 2 mos. later our sweet pt. passed away! I too carry sooo much quilt about Chato’s death, I was a whisleblower to the FBI reporting a Dr.we shared office with was committing Medicaid and Medicare fraud, he is not even a US citizen, the civil case was settled one of the largest inTx. But criminally nothing happened, we had so many threats from him, but I felt and still do we did the right thing……till my Chato paid with his life? Why? How is he responsible? I do not know if faced with the same situation, if I could put my dogs in harms way! We have 7 rescue heelers and every night I thank God for their love and devotion. You are a wonderful Mark and I know Sprite and Chato are running and playing as their life will go on in our hearst forever! God bless you and your family!
Fondly,
Cathy from TX

Chica

Over ten years ago, I decided to wander down to the local swap meet and rummage around in everyone else\’s junk, looking for something I just couldn\’t live without.  It was only a matter of
moments before I saw two, dirty little Chihuahua puppies in grungy sweaters, rolling around in the dirt and playing
joyfully.  I immediately called my wife. \”Teri!  Don\’t
misunderstand me, I don\’t want one, I just wanted you to come down and see these Chihuahua puppies.  They are the cutest little things you ever saw\”.  \”O.K. Michael but I don\’t want another dog!\”  At that moment, I truly believed her.  However, the minute she arrived and laid eyes on the two frolicking pups,  she just had to have one!  Teri chose the white one with the caramel head and fox-like face.  Our little Chica came home with us that day and gave us ten-plus years of shear joy!  She
became our Shitzu\’s little sister although she was Momma\’s baby from the moment she joined our family until we lost her
on May 21st, 2009.  Full of personality with quirky little
traits, she was loving, funny, jealous, possessive and sometimes testy with her sister but always the baby.  Unbeknownst to us was the not uncommon ailment of congenital heart disease small dogs are often cursed with.  Her
loving little heart was twice it\’s normal size when we lost her but from that little heart sprang the most adoring dog and
loyal creature anyone could ever have.  Her entire world was my
wife and the hole she has left in our hearts is beyond belief.  We
are thankful we saw her that day at that old drive-in which had been converted into a swap meet.  I can\’t imagine anyone else
having the privilege of sharing her little life.  She was our  baby and we mourn deeply for her but now must give all our love to Sasha, the Shitzu, who remains and too, misses her baby sister, our little Chica.

Pepper

I was introduced to you by a friend, he downloaded the ebook Rescuing Sprite for me. I enjoyed the book, it made me laugh and cry. I also really enjoyed “Liberty and Tyranny”. But that’s not why I’m writing. It’s Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend, I’m sitting on my front porch and my puppy Pepper is lying by my side. She isn’t quite 4 yrs. old yet, so I say puppy. I adopted her from North Shore Animal League a little over three years ago as a puppy. She is a beautiful black dog with a full fluffy tale. Some people say she looks like a border collie. She has been my best friend for almost four years. I have had cats before but never felt toward them as I feel toward Pep. My heart is breaking because we found out yesterday she has stage V lymphoma. The vet oncologist says she probably only has a few days. I guess I’m writing because I think you can understand how I’m feeling, having read your story about Sprite. I just don’t understand how this could happen to a dog so young and happen so fast. I spend some time today researching and I get the impression that this is not supposed to happen to dogs so young. (more…)
