My Ex-wife and I were offered the runt of a cat litter in 1992. Poor little thing was flea bitten. The first night she pooped all over our apartment. Shivering and crying as well. We took her to the vet the next day. The Vet thought we should think about putting her down. We decided on an option of medication and observation for a while. We didn’t even have a name for her yet. We told the Vet we just say, “come here Sweetie”. The name stuck! My Ex and I split in 2000. Sweetie went with me. She was always sick with something. One Vet said she was “ataxic”. Poor little one walked sideways sometime. It would always last for about a week and then go away! I was amazed at how tough she was. Always fighting. She taught me to be strong. So cuddly. Finally after twelve and a half years, she continued to get worse. I had her to the Vet six times in five weeks. She always fought back! After a Colonoscopy, she got so bad to the point that the Vet recommended I put her down. On Dec. 28, 2005 I had her put down.
I went to the pet store to get my now twenty-seven year old Cockatiel some food two days after I put Sweetie down. . I had to look at the Cats to be adopted. I knew I wasn’t ready. Of course there was a five month old kitten that came right up to the glass door and just stared at me. She looked just like my beloved Sweetie!! (She was the only cat that was roaming the room for the night. outside of her cage) . I thought there was a reason she was the only one out. I got a call from the friend that I got Sweetie from. I told her about this kitten that looked just like Sweetie. I didn’t think it would be right to get another cat that looked just like my last one. My friend suggested I wait about two weeks. Go back to the store and see if she’s still there. If she was it was a sign to take her home. I went back to the store and there she was!! Of course I met with her one more time and had to bring the little Doll home!! What a Cutie!!
I want EVERYONE to know that their pain will pass. Live goes on. There’s always a cat or dog that needs you!! Don’t hesitate to bring another friend home with you.
God Bless!!

Having just recently discovered Mark Levin, as our local station (KXNT-Las Vegas) only recently started carrying Mark’s show, I was sad to hear about his wonderful dogs.. My wife and I, on last Thursday, had to put to sleep our wonderful Poncho. He had been in heart failure for the last several months, but with several drugs, he had been doing fairly well. On Thursday, he couldnt even stand up, so we took him back to the vet, and the vet advised us that there was nothing he could do, so we had Poncho put to sleep. We had him cremated, and we just recieved his ashes today. We had the little guy for over 13 years. We miss him greatly..

I own have a German Shepherd/Husky mix and had him for several years. Can’t imagine life without him. The animal shelter named him Sebastian. He was found wandering around and was in captivity for over a year. When my mom, sister, and I were searching for animals on the shelter’s website, my mom found his photo and profile. We knew it was a perfect match before even meeting the actual dog. During the summer of that year, my mother’s cousin came to visit and she was carrying my youngest brother (who was only three then) in her arms into the pool and she didn’t see where it started to slant downward (she was walking backwards) and tripped. Sebastian immediately jumped into the pool and saved my little brother’s life, pulling him out of there.

This is my story about our faithful family member, Lucky. We put our baby boy to sleep only a month ago, so our pain is still fresh in our hearts. He was an 11-year-old Maltese when he died and had been a part of our family since he was a puppy. And boy was he a handful from the beginning. I swear puppies are worse than kids. He was terrible with all the chewing, biting and getting into boyish mischief, I thought I was going to pull my hair out of my head. He was a little 10-pound dog who thought he was a German Sheppard. Always ready to take on whatever dog dared step paw into our front yard. And Lucky was a pampered pooch. My mother babysat our kids while my husband and I worked and as such, Lucky would head over to grandmas as well each day. He was as much her dog as he was ours. Lucky loved us all, but worshipped my husband and mother.
Up until the end of July, he was his usual puppy playfulness. Then my husband and I noticed a change in him the beginning of August. He wasn’t eating that much and he was acting lethargic. I thought it was due to the weather as the Texas sun was really starting to heat up. One day I was on the floor rubbing his head and around his jaw when I noticed a lump on the right side. My husband got down and felt it and was immediately inconsolable. He said it was his lymph node and knew it was cancer even before we took him to the vet. The vet did a biopsy on the area, and the results were just as predicted….cancer. The vet gave him 2 months, told us to take him home and that we would know when the time was right to put him to sleep. My mother was devastated. During the middle of September he started bleeding out of his mouth and making a snoring-like noise when he breathed. The vet said these were contributed to the growth pushing into his mouth and nasal cavity, and that the bleeding would get worse. It was pure torture listening to him make that horrible noise and bleeding more and more each day.

In the 70’s , I got my dog ,Trixie , from a pet store for free because she was getting too big and older, 3 mths. She was a mix breed type dog aka mutt. My mother during the ice age of the 70’s taught her to fetch the paper. And in spring time would escort my grandmother on her daily walks. One day , Gramma, fell in the back yard, Trixie started to circle my grandmother barking. At that time my cousin came into the backyard but couldn’t get to my grandmother because Trixie didn’t know him. As he said “That lil dog scared the beegeesus out of me” Luckily , she knew my uncle. She’s been missed dearly since 1987 when my mom had to put her down. Thankyou
