Our 14 year old black lab Bogey passed away very suddenly three weeks ago. I have always thought I would always be with her in the final moments of her life. I researched vets that would come to the house if I needed to put her down. But she left this world without me there and I am so very upset because of it. She was always there for me and I wasn’t there for her. I’m not sure what else I could have done. We have two boys ages 4 and 2 and it’s been so hard giving everyone in the family time, especially her. And I don’t even work! But she was there for me through so many things. I will always remember her next to me in bed under the covers because the house was to cold or walking her in parks where dogs were not allowed and hoe she failed puupy training and yet turned into to the best dog anyone would love to know. Her live was the greatest. She was my number one. Them I had two bioys and she was put on the back burner. She understood. And when her time to go I was not there. It makes me so sad. I have always has family pets growing upi. But she was mine. All mine. Before husband before kids. I hope she kwows how i feel about her.
PS Mark Love your show. I just don’t think a lot of American understand what is happening in our country. You want healthcare sure! No one understands that someone has to pay for that and all the other entitlements the libs want to enact. Anyway, sorry for my rant.

Mark–I bought Rescuing Sprite just days before we had our Airedale, Ginger, put to sleep. I had happened to read just a couple of sentences from your book and got the feeling that you had struggled about making the decision for Sprite, and that your words might have significance for us. It has been two months since Ginger left us; I finally got up the nerve to read your entire book today. Our political views could not be much more different, I believe, but your sadness affected me profoundly. Liberal or Conservative, we are all human, and it is true, dogs are the best.

Hey Mark,
I started listening to your program just last year on my XM radio and heard about your book. Then, I had to put our yellow lab, Molly to sleep on 1/20. I then purchased 2 of your books, one for each of my children….what a great story. You are a GREAT American!

I lost my beloved boxer last week. Baxter was not supposed to die but because he was so weakened by the tests given him for a painful back and fever and because he had a previous diagnosed aortic stenosis condition, he threw a clot and passed while he was being treated in the animal hospital. Baxter was larger than life! Everything he did was enthusiastic, from eating his favorite foods, loved peanut butter, to playing with his football, Baxter didn’t miss a beat. He even crouched down to the floor to wait for a soccer ball as it was being kicked to him. Baxter wasn’t the most polite pooch as my friends told me because jumping was his way of expressing his happiness at seeing people come into our home. The greeting he gave everyone was more than exuberant. My pooch was the most lovable dog there ever was. There was always a kiss waiting for us. I am so sad that he is not here anymore. We miss him so much. I think that by trying so desperately to find out what was wrong with him, we hastened his death. I am so sorry for that.

Dear Mark,
My best friend gave me a copy of Rescuing Sprite after we lost our little girl Mitzi last November. She was a tiny Shi Tzu, who would have been 14 years old this month and I can not begin to express how much we miss her. Your book is a tremendous help.We are not alone in this sorrow. Thanks for being courageous enough to put your words on paper. It is rewarding to know other good people feel the same about losing their pets.
Best Wishes to your friends and family.
