Only one thing wrong – you are not yet on TV!
Our beloved pet, Grace, is a very conservative kttty. She was rescue from a crack house, five years ago. We had lost our ninteen year old kitty, Ernie, in 2003. Months later, when I saw Grace at the shelter, I knew that she needed a break. She was skinny; had no undercoat; was scared to death and sat in the corner of her cage with her head down. Her two kittens that were rescued with her had found homes, but here sat Grace looking like she was giving up. I just knew I had to adopt her. Several years later, she is a total transformation. She s a beauty with a beautiful shiny, lush coat. She has more confidence than one could imagine. She is a DIVA and she KNOWS it!
We call her Amazing Grace. We added the amazing, three years ago. We had experienced a severe storm in Seattle and the power had been out for two days. I had cabin fever and was going out for a walk. As I tried to leave, Grace kept pushing her body in between me and the door and meowing passionately. Then she would run back upstairs. Finally, after about four tries, I followed her and she stopped in front of the refrigerator. There was water running down the front panel of the door from the ice dispenser, onto the hardwood floor. If I had gone out, we would have had to replace the floor.

We absolutely LOVE her. We are building a new home and planned much of the house around her – window seats – cabinet for her litter box etc. We got so lucky when we met Grace – the conservative cat!

We have a beautiful collie cross we rescued (shown in the picture with a kitten he helped nuture after we rescued her)
My animals are a blessing to me; honest where people sometimes aren\’t. There is no pretension in a dog.
I have spent my whole life working with horses and dogs; they have taught me a lot….far more than I expected.

We were supossed to get a dog from a lady that was going to give her up.At the last minute she changed her mine. My wife was really down about that. I was on the spca web site and their was this little face staring at me. I told her to look at this. We went to the spca to check her out. She had beeen droped off in a drop box. She was closed to death. The spca saved her. They named her feather because she was so light. We wanted to get a closer look but they said be careful she snaps at everyone. I picked her up and she didnot snap. My wife talked to her and got her attention. She picked her up and she melted in her arms she knew she had found a home. She is a maltse poodle mix. She was kind of ragged looking when we got her now feather is beautiful. Your book about sprite made me realize we had done a wonderful thing for a little dog that was closed to death. She is so happy now and full of spunk.

My dad came on to Mark’s radio show the day after Madison, our beloved dog of 14 years, died, to chat about what a wonderful dog she was and the blessings of adopting a pet through a dog shelter. Our puppy, Gracie was adopted from the North Shore Animal League on May 3rd, 2009. She is a border collie/husky mix and even though she is twelve weeks old, she already has a vibrant personality. Gracie enjoys chasing our feet as we run through the house, and playing with her squeaky toys. We are looking forward to many years with another amazing dog.

After having the last of my many rescued dogs pass away from old age, I was determined to “take a break” from owning a dog for a while – until the last series of “Pedigree” commercials urging pet adoptions was on tv. One morning after seeing one of these commercials, I was driving onto the Florida turnpike when a dog who was attempting to cross the turnpike caught my eye…I knew it would only be a matter of minutes before it was hit by a car. I rushed to the first exit and turned around to go back and try to help the dog. When I got back to where I had seen him, I didn’t see him…so I walked along the fence where I thoughtI saw him last (all along, there was a pouring down rain and thunderstorm) – then I saw him, lying on his side, in the mud – blood coming from his ears and face. My heart jumped into my throat – I thought I was already too late and that he had already been hit by a car! I called out to him..and all of a sudden he jumped up with a surprised and frightened look on his face..(then I realized he looked like he could have been an aggressive, mean, bulldog-type dog) but then he started to wag his tail and was all excited and happy to see me! So, I tried to lift the fence to let him come under to me, but I could not get it up high enough for him to get under….so I had to drive around the fence onto a canal bank….but I could not drive to where the dog was…so I had to get out of my truck (again, in the pouring down rain and thunder and lightening) and I had to walk through knee high grass along a canal bank – where it was very common to see snakes and/or alligators -and I was wearing flip flops!! As I was continued walking, I thought I surely must be out of my mind!

My name is Annie. I was born on December 14, 2001. I was adopted from a shelter when I was just 7 months old. I live with two people and two cats. I am a Catahoula. What is a Catahoula you ask? We are know as the Leopard dog, with a pedigree stretching back to the Spanish explorers. The state of Louisiana is cited as the point of origin, particularly the area of Catahoula. Hence the name, Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog. In 1979, the breed was designated the state dog of Louisiana. Some of us have a thicker coat than others and some have more spots. We are known for our striking blue eyes (called \”Glass Eyes\”), but we may have other eye colors as well. I have \”Glass Eyes\” or I should say \”Glass Eye\”. I lost my left eye 3 years ago, due to Glaucoma. I have to get 3 different eye drops in my right eye every day. This helps keep the pressure down on my eye. Too much pressure gives me a headache. I get along great with just one eye. I got use to it real quick, Sometimes I turn to the left to close to things and bump my nose. I can\’t catch the frisbee as good as I once used to either. All in all, I have a good life and I love my family I live with.
