Friendly To All

Found this young little terrier pup running around the neighborhood on a cold, rainy October evening three years ago. I brought him in and dried him off and kept him overnight.

He had no tags and some folks were feeding him but didn’t claim him. Took him to the vet for shots, but also for special dipping due to scabs from fleas and ringworm. Had internal parasites but no heartworm. After neutering and dewclaw removal, the vet bills approached $1,000 but he is a joy — friendly to all, kids included, except cats and rabbits. A responsibility, but one gladly accepted.

Jersey

This is my dog Jersey. She was raised by me from day one. She has a bond with my wife and I that I have never seen in a dog. She knows how to always get what she wants.

The picture I submitted is of her doing what her breed has done for many generations- And, if the “Great One” has his way, she will be able to continue this heritage that she lives for.
Mark, my dog and I thank you for all your hard work.

Mark

I just want to let you know that I and like many others know what you went thru with you beloved dog. When you loose one of our beloved little friends, it’s so painful I know. This is my story about my special little friend, Rock. He was the most gentle and sweetest creature that any one could imagine. He didn’t have a mean or vicious bone in his body. But on 9/11 what he did truly amazed my wife and me. I came home late that light from a very busy day and night at work. I quickly cleaned up and turned the TV on to see the events for the first time. I was very visibly up set, and I know my Rock knew it. He was bringing me his toy and I would throw it. This happened for several minutes. Then there was a image of Bin Laden on the screen and Rock dropped his toy and went up to the TV screen and started to bark and growl viciously, as if it were the devil himself. Maybe it was, but anyway he did this until his image was off the screen. My wife and I sat there in shock. What my Rock did on 9/11/01 was truly amazing. He knew the evil he saw. A sure sign of how they are truly one of Gods most precious gifts to us.

Sasha

This is Sasha. She’s a red nose pit bull. She was the runt of the litter and everyone had passed on her. Not my girlfriend at the time. She brought her home when she was 9 weeks old. She’s the smartest dog I’ve ever owned and I once owned an Irish setter. She’s also an amazing guard dog, if you walk by the window or knock on my front door, she barks an alarm letting me know someone is outside. I thought I would have a problem when I brought my baby boy home from the hospital 4 years ago, but she accepted him as her own and loves him as much as I do. She’s a Reagan Conservative and listens to Mark Levin by my side with me every night.

Buck

The stories you have shared lately have really helped me to get through an extremely difficult time. On October 11, 2007, my Flat Coated Retriever died suddenly. When I came home from work, I could tell that Buck was in serious trouble and I called the vet immediately. Somehow I got his 105 pound body into the back seat of my car and I rushed to the vet. They operated and took out his spleen. It had a tumor that had ruptured. He had lost half of his blood into his abdoment. It looked like he would make it and my spirits rose. They were wrong.

Buck was dead within 4 hours of the time I arrived home from work. He had never shown any symptoms of his illness until that moment that I walked into my home on that terrible afternoon. Buck was my best friend! Dog owners know what I mean when I say this. We had been through so much together. Buck’s owner had become my fiancee six years previously. Buck and I grieved together when my fiancee commited suicide three years ago. I wouldn’t have made it through such a horrible time in my life without Buck. He understood what I was going through and I would open up and share my pain, emotions, and confide everything to him. . When the pathology report came back and it confirmed that he had cancer, I was grateful that he didn’t have to linger or experience the cancer spreading to other organs God sent Buck to be a special “Angel” in my life and I’m confident that Buck is enjoying every moment now as he romps around Heaven with all the wonderful dogs who have passed before him. Thank God for our pets!

We Resued a Very Terrified Sheltie

Seven years ago we resued a very terrified Sheltie running in circles around the neighborhood. I brought him home, advertised for his owner, and no response. I took him to the vet, he had several abcessed teeth, he was underweight and in general poor condition. We kept him as our own, had his medical problems taken care of, and he became my closest companion. He loved to go in the car and went everywhere with me. Two years ago he developed Arthritis in his hind leg. It was getting pretty bad, he could no longer walk on the foot. I took him to Physical Therapy once a week. He had water therapy, massage and a soft brace to help him get around. He continued in PT for a year and a half. He also developed a collapsing Trachea. It was closing and made breathing difficult, so he was limited on his ability to be active. I treated his pain with mild meds, provided ramps on all stairs, helped him with getting around and sometimes carried him when he needed help. He had become quite large! about 48 lbs.!
