Listener Stories

Nicky

Hello, I am an 81 year old passionately patriotic American grouchy old lady. I have listened to the Mark Levin Show for quite some time now and love it and the Great One too.- and Hannity too.. The Levin show is broadcast in my little town on 760 AM (Detroit MI) at 8 p.m. I am overjoyed that not so long ago, Mark’s third hour was added. Back in 1993 my son led me to Rush Limbaugh and I have been a devoted fan ever since. Always dog lovers (and cats, etc.- my family has had a menagerie over the years. Of course we have lived the heartbreak of sayijng goodbye, amid tears of anguish were shed over and over. My most poignant loss of my “baby” – a black poodle named Nicky. My husband of thirty-three years (and six children) left us for a younger “shack-up honey” (same age as our oldest son.) After trying to hold a job and care for a devastated daughter, 13, the youngest of our children, I decided to move to Florida where she wouldn’t be waiting every night for her father to call. I agreed her cat could go with us, but (sadly) not Nicky. (I t is too difficult to rent with a child and one pet, let along TWO pets. With heart breaking into little pieces, I handed his leash to my cousin Velma. She and her husband, Chuck, had agreed to take him into their home. With his toys and supplies in hand, the two started to walk toward the door of my apartment. Nicky went with them, without a backward glance!. I know that if he had tried to stay with me, I would have broken down completely. He proved his value to them later on at an early morning walk. Chuck fell on an icy sidewalk and Nicky stayed right with him till help arrived. He passed away long years ago, but I’ll never forget Nicky. When I drove my car, he snuggled next to me, with his head in my lap. It is still worth every tear to have had the love and devotion of our dogs. He or she is a member of the family. I know you agree.

Ming Toy

Ming Toy was a orphan Siamese cat found  living in a warehouse. He had the habit of making a \”humming sound\” when you held him on his back in your arms.  Told my brother that Ming Toy swallowed a humming bird and that\’s why he hums..and for 1 split second my brother believed it! One nite I was sitting in bed (recently had surgery) waiting for my husband to get home from working PMs. I dozed off and then woke up tofind Ming Toy standing in my lap with his paws on my chest and meowing LOUD into my face. When I awoke, he jumped off and ran into the hall. He turned around to see if I was coming and meowed LOUDLY again.  He then ran downstairs to the door and looked up at the doorknob as it was turning. It was 3am and I knew that it was too early for my husband to be returning from work.  The doorknob continued to keep turning and now someone was pushing harder against the door. I called 911 and the cops came to find tire marks across our front lawn caused by the would-be intruder at the door as he made his getaway. Ming Toy saved the night for me by alerting me to the stranger at the door. Ming Toy would never enter my bedroom for some reason, but that night he did to alert me.  Ming Toy was my \”boy.\”  He also loved to ride in cars while sitting across my shoulders. Loved to play attack cat by grabbing onto your closed fist while lightly kicking your hand with his back paws and lightly gumming your hand with his teeth. He never would hurt you while playing…the cat knew how to have fun!
Rest in peace, Ming Toy.

Rudy

About 4 weeks ago we adopted a 2 year old rat terrier/chihuahua mix. A young lady who does dog and cat rescues, found him on the side of the highway in North Texas. Our daughter saw him at PetCo. The phone call started with “Dad, keep an open mind…” Anyway, RUDY is now a beloved member of our family.

It is great to have a dog around the house again. After we had to put our beloved sheltie, Mischief, to sleep a few years ago, we just didn’t feel ready for another dog. RESCUING SPRITE reminded me how great it is to have a dog.

Here is a picture of Rudy all ready to go on his first family camping trip.

Bella and Eli

I am a proud owner of 2 rescue mutts, Bella and Eli.  When my husband got me your great book, I was so excited to read it.  It is nice to hear that I am not the only crazy one who spends most days loving and talking to our pups!!!  Your dogs are lucky to have you!  p.s.  Love the radio show!
