Mark –
I just have to tell you how proud I am of my son. He is the local lost dog finder. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats.
Since we moved to Texas 3 years ago, he has personally helped over 10 dogs and 2 cats.
We found, Fallon, a black lab mix walking along the shoulder of a busy highway and after taking her to 3 different shelters and hospitals, there was no room. Since we already hada dog, I suggested that we keep Fallon in the backyard so as not to upset Reagan, our other dog. He and his mom ganged up on me and she has been ours ever since. She has been one of the most tolerant patient dogs I have ever seen. She has barked only 3 times and always seems to know when you need a little extra love.
Connor, my son, also found 2 baby kittens walking along our street and of course, it repreated itself and now we are one big family. Fallon now has feline “puppies” to take care of and is a great mom to them.
Just had to tell you how proud of him I am and the huge heart he has for animals.

I have a border collie/german shepard. she is three years old and loves to play frizbee. it’s frizbee morning, noon and night. you should take pepsi to the back yard with a stack of
good frizbees.

Dear Mark,
I just finished reading Rescuing Sprite and had to write. I too am a dog lover.
While on a business trip and channel surfing on the TV in my hotel room, I heard the word “dog” and stopped on the channel to hear the story. It was your interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News and the next day I bought your book. I honestly don’t watch Fox and had never heard your show but you had me at “dog.”
I read the first half of your book on the return flight home and had to take a break from reading. Not because I became engrossed with work and holiday preparation when I got home but I really needed a little time to prepare emotionally for where the story was headed.
My husband and I have a 9 year old, American Staffordshire Terrier named McGwire – Mac for short. My family always had dogs, so after college, getting married and buying a house, I yearned to have a dog of my own. I remember the day we brought our puppy home like it was yesterday. That was really the culmination of my own American Dream and I have never loved anything as much as my dog. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi Mark,
I listen to your show and when people talk about the pets they have lost I have to say I can’t bear to hear them and maybe selfishly I am greatful it is not me at this point in time. That changed today. Our young cat Mazie died this morning. This was unexpected. She went to the vet today to be spayed. There was nothing wrong with her although we thought she may be in heat so we thought this was a good time. We also requested to have the chip put in her becuae we would be devestated if she were to get lost. We had her examined 2 days ago to be sure she was ok before she would have the procedure. Everything checked out and she was scheduled to have the operation this morning.According to the vet she had a cardiac arrest after the operation. (I am suspecious) but there really is very little recourse.
I have requested a full report from the vet but this is just to make sure he realizes this was someone’s family member and if there was incompentence on his part he will think next time but what else can you do. Our little Mazie is gone and I am sitting here crying with a broken heart. We found her outside a few months ago. She jumped into ours arms which is rare for an outside cat. She appeared to be young and she was missing her tail. She immediatley became a part of our family and our other 5 cats (all rescued as a litter 2 years ago) loved her. It feels as though they sense something is wrong. They were all just playing this morning. I have a terrible headake from crying and I feel sick in my stomach everytime I see her little face in my mind.

Mark, as a fellow pet owner I felt you would like to pass this onto your site….a police dog here in Ohio died in the line of duty of a seizure and was put to sleep…it was to be retired sometime soon after faithful duty…it’s from the Cincinnati Enquirer:
