Dear Mark,

I don’t know if you are familiar with Tammy Grimes of Dogs Deserve Better…she has dedicated her life to helping dogs that live their lives chained up in backyards. Some time ago she tried to help one such dog that was close to death in someone’s yard…to no avail. The police, animal control and the Humane Society refused to help. She ended up taking the dog and ultimately got arrested. She was able to give the dying dog a few months of knowing what Love was before he died. Now Tammy is going to trial. Please read her story…I I would love to hear you speak to your audience about this atrocity. Tammy needs your voice. You are wonderful and a true advocate for God’s beautiful creatures. Hey Mark,

When I was 14 I bought a Silver German Shepherd puppy I took everywhere I went until the day he died. Gus passed 2 years before my 30th birthday, and the pain has never gone away. After realising I don’t deal with pain well, I decided to get a pet that would out live me. She is 15 years old, 125lbs., and has about 250lbs. to go.

I cant talk about my wonderful companion that I put down last week because I ‘m too emotionally upset. I will say that he was a most handsom australien shepherd who never left my side. He was 11 yrs old & I rescued him when he was 4. He was suffering from a cancer that left him unabloe to do things that gave quality to his life. I couldnt bear to see him strugglr any longer so I gave him peace. What I want to speak about is Gov Huckabees 17 yr old son who was dismissed as a camp counselor for hanging a dog. His saintly father had the charges quashed hence his son received no punishment.

Mark, I just finished your wonderful book last nite, and the details of your families life with Sprite brought back so many memories of our Max, who we lost 6 years ago.

I , too held back from going through it again, but the joy of being with Max drove us to buy Krups. Krups is a minature poodle version of Pepsi, with the episodes of running through the house, the looks of understanding, the smiles, and the love of walking!

I , also, went through a health issue, cancer. Throughout the illness, the surgery, and the long confinment to bed, Krups never left my side, always concerned, and finally, like you Mark, led me to walking the neighborhood as fraile as you were. He led me,as your dog did for you, to better health. When I finished the book, I couldn’t help myself, I picked Krup’s up and held him for a long time, and told him about Sprite and about how much God has blessed our family, and how he blessed your’s with Pepsi and Sprite. You think you were crushed by Sprite’s passing, but you were unbelivably strong, stronger than I was at the end for Maxwell, and I feel guilty that I didn’t do the things you did for Sprite. To me, the simple moral of the book is that these gifts from God, our pets, as you say, teach us to be like them, more like the angels that they are. Thank you Mark

For a dog may I suggest a Grayhound… Like the ad says “Go Grayhound”.

Mark I Love your Show, Long time listener.
I read Rescuing Sprite, I Have a dog named Rusty he is 16 years young. Have him from a pup. I worked in a Nursing home, Rusty work there to one day a week. Rusty gave a lot of love to them and they gave him love back.Now he cant hear and his legs are going. I am not looking foward to that day, he is a dog he is our baby.
