Angel Marie

On Thursday, October 16, 2008, I lost my Angel Marie.  Angel was an 11 year old yellow lab.  She was the light of my life.  She was a born protector.  Twice she kept me from stepping on a rattlesnake.  She kept the other dogs away from harm as well.  She will be so missed.

On Friday, Oct. 17, a friend came by and gave me the book \”Rescuing Sprite\”.  What a wonderful book.  I finished the book last night through many tears.  I found comfort in the fact that I am not alone in my sorrow over my Angel.

My son and I rescued Angel from a busy street.  She was just a baby and she was running as fast as she could through traffic.  I pulled off the road and ran out in the road and she bounded into my arms.  It was almost as if she had been looking for me.  Thank you for the beautiful story of Sprite.

Blessed With Dogs

Thanks Mark for \”Rescuing Sprite\”. I bought 10 copies last year for Christmas gifts! What a sensitive, wonderful book! I have spent 20+ years in animal welfare work, rescuing and re-homing, specializing in small dogs. Currently, we still have 3 rescue dogs that were neglected and abused… we are the blessed ones to have  them in our lives! Abuse is occurs far too often. There are so many innocent children and animals who suffer.
You are a treasure. Thanks for your great mind, heart and committment to this great country, your family, and your canine family members.

Spike

Spike is our mascot at Spike\’s Junkyard Dogs, USA.  He is a patriot that has his own uniform when he visits the sailors at the New London Submarine Base in Groton, Ct.
They love him and his hot dogs   that are sold in his shop there.  As our official spokesdog, he travels to all of our units from his home base in our corporate offices.  He brings instant joy and happiness to all that meet him.

Sonny

Hello Mark I am writing to you because I love your show and I have to podcast it everyday. I really have a lot of respect for your opinion. that being said I adopted a Boxer 8 yers ago and we recently had to put him down due to cancer it was the second hardest thing I have gone through in my life. My daughter was the first, born with a hart condition. Sonny the Boxer will be in my memory for ever. I called him my excon because he was in and out of the pounds about 7 times before I got him. My family was very attached to him, he had such a great personalitty. I am a former airborne infantryman, volunteer firefighter, and an electrician I thought I was tough but when I was there with my buddy at the end it made me cry like a littl baby. I had a really hard time explaning to my four year old son where Sonny went . My brother found a kids book that really helped it was great. Well thanks for listening and keep up the great work on the radio. We really need ou out there.
