Listener Stories

Koa

Koa. Our Furry family member. Pits have a bad reputation but she is honestly the most loveable dog in the world! She is always there with her tail wagging when we get home. Dogs are truly a Man/Womans bestest friend

Chico

This isn’t an anecdote, but allow me to tell you about my Chico.

About a year or 2 ago, my dog Oprah (breed: non-descript, just plain black) passed away.

I resisted my children’s and my wife’s requests for a new dog. I especially didn’t want a little yappy dog, as my wife suggested.

One weekend, I was out of town on business. I returned to find a small Chihuhua, rat terrier, Jack Russell (?) mix yapping away in the back yard.

Needless to say, I felt a bit betrayed and disrespected.

It turns out that Chico had a story of his own. He was found abandoned, tied to a tree, next to a horse, which was also abandoned.

Chico seems to realize that he lucked out by “finding” us, a family with 2 loving kids, and 2 loving parents.

He’s reached a point of detente’ or we could call it a balance of terror with our 4 (!) cats, who tolerate him.

And yes, I adore my Chico, as well. Even I have come around.

Dear Mr. Levin: Hello….I listen to your show off and on on satellite radio……..I do not agree with you on all issues, and agree with you on some issues……..I am I guess what would be called a blue dog Democrat in today’s terminology…..I love the fact that you support Israel 100%…..Isreal deserves our complete and unequivocal support. Iran is a rogue nation, like North Korea, and we should back Israel completely if they choose to knock out Iran’s nuclear capability…..Lord Chamberlain tried dialogue with Nazi Germany in the late 30’s…..It nearly lost England, had not Churchill and the RAF rescued the country from the Nazis….You cannot negotiate with rogue nations like Iran and North Korea. I also believe that we have the finest health care system in the world……..To tinker with it as many of my fellow Democrats are trying to do is going to spell disaster for our health care system if they prevail with their plans……I have worked with the public sector for 40 years, and know that no one who has needed medical attention, be they poor, child, or homeless has gone without….That is what our current Medicaid and emergency room system provides……..I personally took a 78 year old woman with dual Mexican/US citizenship to the emergency room of a hospital in Las Vegas…She had NO insurance….But they treated her with respect and dignity, and diagnosed her condition, and gave her a prescripton to alleviate her condition, at no cost to her…….To throw this national health plan at us, and mess up the finest health care system in the world, is sheer nonsense, and I support you 100% in opposing it………But mainly I support you as a fellow dog lover (more…)

Buck

This is my dog Buck, he is 6 years old and named after the dog in the show Married with children.  I have had him since he was a cub, yep i said cub.  The majority of his genes are coyote, which makes him so bizzare he is house broken, speaks, sits, listens to everything i tell him
( i didnt teach/train anything) accept when he picks up a scent or see\’s movement.  Injuries he has sustained in his 6 years of life are as follows. Broken leg suffered when i accidently hit him, Attempted to eat 2 porcupines, been shot with a shotgun and bitten by a rattlesnake  He goes everywhere with me as im a farmer so he\’s my co-pilot as i like to call him.  He rides in the front with me, not in the back but he can do either.  Buck is by far the best dog and most resiliant/loyal dog i have ever had.

The picture attatched sums him up prety good.

He goes to show you a there is nothing as a free puppy. haha. Take care Mark

Annie

My annie was a beautiful 19 yr old poodle when she died. It has been two years and I still haven’t gotten over it.
Thank-you for your book, Rescuing Sprite, it has helped a bit.

Oscar

I just received your book yesterday from my wife for father’s day. I read the entire book yesterday. Love it. Fathers day is a tough day we had to put a dog down one year about 2 weeks before fathers day and then on fathers day I had to sign papers to unplug everything on my step-father who died twenty minutes after I signed the papers. We have had two more dogs since that time and the last dog we got is a rescue dog (Oscar)and he is the best.
