Listener Stories

Mason

1 week ago today, we lost a family member named Mason. His untimely death..he was only 3, has all of our family members devastated. My mission is to help bring awareness to a disease called HGE. We noticed Mason had lost his appetite. Living in Texas and, although he was an inside dog, we would let him out frequently, we thought the 100+ weather was affecting his appetite. He was still playful and other than the loss of appetite for 3 days, seemed perfect. (more…)

Jack

We have recently added to our motley crew of rescued pups (a femaleFrench Bulldog and a male Husky border Collie mix) and recently took in another French Bulldog, Jack, who is a 3 year old with a heart condition. He has been diagnosed with a hole in his heart as well as an enlarged part of his heart and he will likely only live 1-2 more years. We are already madly in love with him and he is fitting in just fine. We plan to spoil him for as long as we have him!

My Rescues

I have recued 3 dogs. 1died after 13 yrs, 1ran away and was hit by a car, 2 miles from home( I think he was spooked by the thunder) and my 3rd is 8 yrs now. Each time I have said never again but I don’t feel fullfilled without a dog in my life. They give so much and ask for so little.

My JoJo..

My JoJo was the best dog ever! Baby Jo was a pure bred Blue Healer. She was the first dog that my husband and I got within the first two years that we were married…14 years ago. We got JoJo because I was pregnant with my second baby, and my husband had to start working a graveyard shift. Josie-poo was my best friend and companion. She was so incredibly loyal and faithful..therefore, I called her LF (LOYAL-FAITHFUL). Unfortunately, she got very ill unexpectedly in late October 2008. We had to put her down on November 3, 2008. Precious

Left us today suddenly he had kidney failure and had only suffered a couple of days. I am thankful that I was able to sit a pet him the last few hours of his life. I felt extremly guilty falling a sleep for a moment waking up and seeing hime stare at me wishing I could some how help him.

My wife and daughter went with me to the vet they already knew what was to happen I had held out thinking it maybe different. THe vet let us spend time with him as the medicine eased his pain as we held him each one taking a turn holding him. The vet allowed us to say good by and whisper in his ear how much we loved him, and as he fell a sleep we let him go knowing we will see him again.

I am devistated and cannot stop crying.

ChaCha

We lost our precious ChaCha on June 12, 2009. She died in my arms as our compassionate Dr. Ogden administered the goodniight injection. She had diabetes. I gave Rescuing Sprite to my husband for Father’s Day and he said to me after reading it “Mark had the same emotions that we have” There will never be another ChaCha, and although our hearts are still broken I plan to give books about Sprite to our dear Dr. Ogden at Alsbury Animal Clinic so that he can give one to those who suffeer the loss of a pet. God bless Mark Levin for sharing his private grief so that others can be comforted.
