I have a male basset hound, large for his breed who has the sweetest disposition of any dog I\’ve ever owned. He recently lost his companion Beagle female,his mommy, to old age.  He is going through a lonely period and looks for her daily.  They were together his entire life, he\’s 8 years old this year.  We have thought about adopting another Basset from the rescue league but are having doubts.  We don\’t want him to get anxious about having another dog introduced to the family but we are also concerned about him being lonely when we are at work.  Has anyone out there dealt with this issue before and if so have any advice?
