Listener Stories

Sheba

Dear Mark,
I just finihed reading your book”Rescuing Sprite”. I laughed and cried as I read it. On March 27,2009 my wife and I had to put our beloved and loyal companion,Sheba, to sleep( It was the day after my birthday which made it harder). She was a beautiful German Shephard that we adopted when she was 2 months old. She was part of our family for 14 years. It was the most difficult decision I ever made, but I know it was the right thing to do. I will always miss Sheba. Please know that Sprite loved you and your family more than you’ll ever know.
Thanks for the book. God bless you.

Kasey

Today we said goodbye to our loyal golden retriever Kasey. We got her at the Humane Society 11 years ago. She was underweight and had a dirty hunting collar on her when we got her. We gave her so much love and she returned it 10 fold I read your book and was so happy to see someone in your position express the love they have for their dog. I am a Professional Pilot and many of my coworkers don’t understand the emotional loss I am feeling. I take comfort in knowing there are people out there like yourself that know the pain I am going through right now. She was a 1 in a million dog that was loyal to us to the very end. We miss you Kasey but your memories will bring smiles to our faces till the day we die.

Katie

I was in New york City on a trip from Hawaii.. and i called home.. and my son said \”Katie\’s gone!\”
the love of my life my 10-year old poodle had died. i was in midtown Manhattan.. started walking.. suddenly there in front of me was a church.. no idea what denomination.. but I walked in.. knelt down and prayed for the soul of my beloved Katie.. it was wonderful .I know we shall meet again.

Precious

I found a dog on our street that wouldn’t move out of the street. I took her in and tried to find her home. We found out she was 4-5 years old and was a Papillon and long haired Dachund. When her tail moves it moves her whole body. We named her Precious. She was heaven sent.We well have had her for a year in November.

My Little Guy

Dear Mr. Lavin

I just wanted to thank you for writing your book about Sprite. It was hard for me to read but I have to tell you that it helped me more than you can know. I lost my little guy a little over a year ago and I will miss him everyday until we are finally re-united. But in the mean time I sure needed what you offered.

Thanks Again

Libby & Sam

I just finished reading Rescuing Sprite – tremendous story. Thank you for sharing it with us. I put off reading it for quite a while, not wanting to face the fact that our beloved dogs are only here for a short time, and we often have to make the tough decision as you and your family did. We have a Labradoodle, Libby (which is short for Liberty), who turned 5 yesterday. We also have a Cavachon named Sam, short for Uncle Sam, who is 7 months. The get along like Pepsi and Sprite, as thick as thieves. I’m going home tonight after work and grilling a big steak to share with them. They deserve it. And we’ll listen to the show while we eat, and I’ll tell them about you, Pepsi and Sprite. God bless you.
