A Pet’s Request

I read your book and cried through the entire time, it was a touching story and I can say I have lived trough it! I am sorry for your loss. I was surpirsed to read peoples names in your book that I know, David is my lawyer! The story is touching and sad, but I will tell you my four legged son’s name is tattooed over my heart with the date of his death under it! I have him with me always and his ashes set in my office in a jar, the place where he always was with me and when my time comes he will be placed in the casket with me, I hated going anywhere without him, and so the only place I went that he could not go was the store, however he waited at my office door for my return! Thanks for writing the book, sharing your story and allowing people into your life with Sprite! God bless you and know that Sprite is waiting for you on the other side!

This might help you to know you did the right thing!

A PET’S REQUEST

If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don’t let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We’ve had so many happy years .
What is to come can hold no fears.
You’d not want me to suffer so,
The time has come, so let me go.

Take me where my needs they’ll tend,
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I’ve been saved.

Please do not grieve – it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We’ve been so close, we two, these years,
Don’t let your heart hold back its tears.
