My son divorced the day before he deployed 06-14-08 leaving his 2 dogs with his exwife. We offered to watch his dogs thru the deployment but he knew the judge would not give him custody because of it. It broke our hearts to see him say goodbye to his loved children as well as our own hearts. We loved them as well. For months we grieved with the loss. To this day I cannot think of the day he said goodbye to Indy and Rocky. He talked to them as if they were children and they responded like children as well. I know that he would have fought to get custody of them but it is not an easy task when deployed and being responsible for a Company in the Combat Aviation Brigade. He also ran a Forward Operating Base. Our Soldiers sacrifice so much.
